There once was

It had a beautiful life of its own that grew so naturally. We nurtured it through our connection with one another, and for over a year, it was the most profound energy either of us had ever known. Then, without notice, it changed. Life took a detour...details, complications, new opportunities, and distance. How it has changed and what will become of it remains to be seen, but for some reason, I feel a deep sadness that I'm not going to like the direction this takes. I want to hold on to the feelings and experiences I have embraced for the past year and grow them into something even more profound, but life, it seems, may have something else in mind for us.
